Becoming Ultra and Sharman Ultra have joined forces once again. This time, for their first live event together. The internet is great but meeting with other runners to learn, socialize, and even compete together is the best!
The Be Ultra Mini Camp is a full weekend of activity and education from some of the most dedicated coaches in the industry. We planned the weekend around the featured Season 8 race of Becoming Ultra, the Smith Rock Ascent. Getting out on the trails at Smith Rock State Park north of Bend, Oregon and hanging out in the amazing town of Bend makes for a dream weekend for runners of all levels.
Before we get to the itinerary here are some things to know:
Friday May 15th
9-11am at a trail TBD in Smith Rock State Park: Coaches Ian Sharman, Ellie Greenwood (potentially based on race schedule), and Scott Jones of Sharman Ultra and Becoming Ultra will lead a trail skills session on some of the downhill sections of the course. Expect 3-6 miles and to learn how to more efficiently navigate the more technical aspects of the course so you’ll have more confidence on race day!
Post run: Pre race strategy talk and Q & A. We’ll have a general mindset and strategy talk for 8-15 minutes followed by 15 minutes of questions for the group and then hang out for a bit for individual questions for the coaches (so we can answer more of the individual questions if needed).
Saturday May 16th
7am at Smith Rock: Coaches will be around all day to answer questions and to give general support. They will be out on course helping and will have a dedicated area all day to answer questions pre and post race.
6pm at Crux Fermentation Project in Bend: Post race social and coaches corner. If something went wrong out on course today this is the time to find out what you could have done differently, or better from the coaches.
Sunday May 17th
7am at Smith Rock: Coaches will be there for the 15 miler and 4 miler to answer questions and give general support. They will also be putting runners through a light warm up since they are shorter distances!
Post race at Smith Rock: Coaches will be there to answer any and all post race questions and will do a send off to end the weekend!
Note: As with all runs, our route/itinerary is subject to change!
