We are so excited he has made time available to train one of the “Becoming Ultra” runners. Plus, he has a freakin awesome accent for all of the audio we will be recording. Below is an excerpt from his website:






Ian has been racing around the world in all styles of event since 2005 and coaching since 2010, having run around 200 ultras and marathons in every type of weather and on all terrains. He’s won almost 50 multi-day races, road marathons, trail ultras and adventure races with experience of running in many mountain ranges, including the Himalayas, Andes, Rockies and European Alps. He also holds the fastest time in a trail 100-mile race in the US (12h44m), the record for the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning (69h49m) and is the 2013 Leadville Trail 100 Champion.

He has trained over 100 runners for virtually every type of endurance running event with the aid of NASM personal training and USATF coaching certifications.

micheleprof Michele Yates is a fiery competitor who has had success with road running, figure competitions, and now ultra running. She is real, and tough, and she will most certainly get the most out of her “Becoming Ultra” athlete. We are pumped she opened a slot for one of the runners for this project. Michele graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in May of 2005 where she earned a degree in Kinesiological Sciences with a concentration in fitness management. Her personal training journey began in 2003 with a paid internship at Club Sport Green Valley, Henderson NV. Michele has accumulated several years of experience in group training, kids fitness, individual training, fitness club and personal studio managment. Her educational background and experience provides her with professionalism in nutrition, cardio, core, strength, flexibility, and ultimately running. In running, Michele is a 2x Olympic Trials qualifier in the marathon and represented the United States at the World Mountain Trail Champsionships in Tirana Albania 2011, Conwy Wales 2013, as well as NACAC. She has completed over 20 marathons, captured her 9th win in 2012, and still holds numerous course records at the elite level. She is a 4x National Champion in the ultra trail events. Michele’s sponsors consist of GU Energy, Icespike, Body Armor Super Drink, the Simply Bar, and Ultimate Direction. Michele was also crowned Ms. Figure Colorado in 2008 where she had no less than a top 2 finish in each event she competed in within the year.
