Dr. Kelly Shockley is a Colorado native, single mom of an extremely busy and exciting 3 year old, chiropractor/small business owner and just your average trail runner.
Personally, Kelly has done a lot of growing through life with the past year and a half being some of the most challenging, heart-wrenching, humbling and rewarding. She doesn’t feel like her story is any more special than anyone else’s. She knows she’s not the only one who has gone through the things in life she has thus far and knows there are other’s who are continually experiencing worse.
Leaving her past life behind has allowed her to move forward and get back to who she have always been, but a better, stronger, more determined, and she’d like to believe unstoppable, version of herself. She is forever grateful for her family and her son.
Kelly is back to running again. Looking back, running has always been a part of her life. In high school, she use to get up early enough to run 5 miles before heading to school. During Kelly‘s
Training began….running laps in the basement. Yep, laps. They’re kind of like slow suicides. Those who have known this about Kelly have said she’s crazy, like a hamster trapped in a cage running back and forth. It’s true, it is kind of nuts. Eighty-five laps equals one mile.
Kelly has done 14 miles down there! She has always believed where there’s a will, there’s a way. Kelly is happy to say she’s successfully completed 4 of her 6 half’s thus far. Kelly‘s new goals for 2016, run the North Fork 50 mile ultra in June and the TransRockies Run in August. Her motivation, to show her kiddo, and all of her patients, family and friends that anything is possible regardless of your circumstances.
