Our guest is like many of our listeners, she had no idea what was possible until later in her running life.  Once she got the trail bug, it was over.  She has spent the bulk of her life since running trails and inspiring others to do the same through her writing and actions. Enjoy this conversation about running and trails and life!

  1. The 55k ultra that Sarah mentioned in Arizona was Canyon De Chelly Ultra. I made it in this year…was my first ultra. My previous long was a road 1/2 marathon.
The event is a fund raiser for Navajo HS cross country and other athletic programs. The RD is Shaun Martin of “Racing the Rez” documentary fame.
This was a destination race for me coming from the Northeast specifically for this event. Ran/paced it more as a tourist than a runner, not knowing if I would ever be able to be there again. I finished in 9hrs, but only minimally taxed. If I have a chance to do it again I hope to shave 1.5hrs off that time.
Truly o̶n̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ the best event I’ve ever done. Loved the Navajo philosophy and culture.
